According to Somers, the best diet should be low in carbohydrates, and certain foods should be eaten together, while others should be eaten on their own. Fruits, for example, should only be eaten on their own and never combined with other fruits. These claims are not backed by science.
The foods that comply with the Somers diet include: vegetables, whole grains, brown rice, butter and cheese, meat, eggs, poultry, seafood, and fruits.
The foods that you cannot eat on the Somers diet are tree nuts, peanuts, caffeine, alcohol, sugar, whole milk, yogurt, white flour, squash, corn, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
Somers claims that fruits should always be eaten on their own, and after eating fruit, you should wait three hours before consuming anything else.
