Suzanne Somers Diet

Suzanne Somers has created her own unique diet plan to support health and wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging goals. According to Somers, the best diet should be low in carbohydrates, and certain foods should be eaten together, while others should be eaten on their own. Fruits, for example, should only be eaten on their own and never combined with other fruits. These claims are not backed by science.

The foods that comply with the Somers diet include: vegetables, whole grains, brown rice, butter and cheese, meat, eggs, poultry, seafood, and fruits.

The foods that you cannot eat on the Somers diet are tree nuts, peanuts, caffeine, alcohol, sugar, whole milk, yogurt, white flour, squash, corn, potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Somers claims that fruits should always be eaten on their own, and after eating fruit, you should wait three hours before consuming anything else. In terms of carbs, only whole grains (including brown rice) are allowed, and Somers claims that they should be eaten without the addition of proteins or fats. For example, eating a fat-free cream cheese on whole wheat toast would comply with the diet, while even low-fat cream cheese would not. Somers does not restrict the quantity of poultry, eggs, meats, or seafoods you can eat on her diet. Instead, she simply insists that you can’t eat them simultaneously with carbs. lf you’re vegetarian, soy and tofu products are included in this category. Finally, Somers claims that butter, cheese, and cream should only be consumed with vegetables, poultry, eggs, meats, or seafood.

Somers recommends eating a basic three-meal-per-day diet with snacks in between, and discourages allowing yourself to become too hungry, as she believes this will encourage snap decisions and ultimately. poor eating habits.
